Term 2
Mother Tongue Language Fortnight 2026
During the Mother Tongue Language Fortnight, our students were given meaningful opportunities to celebrate and appreciate their language and cultural heritage through a variety of engaging activities. Over the two-week programme, students took part in a wide range of engaging hands-on activities, such as Batik Painting, Henna Painting, Indian Motifs, Lantern Painting, Chinese Spinning Top and Peranakan Tile Design.
These engaging experiences provided pupils with the opportunity to explore traditional art forms and cultural practices connected to their cultural roots. The students also gained a deeper appreciation of their Mother Tongue languages and cultural heritage while learning in a fun and meaningful way. It was heartening to see them participate with enthusiasm and pride throughout the two weeks.

Student Leaders’ Investiture
The Student Leaders’ Investiture Ceremony marked an important milestone as the outgoing Primary 6 Student Leaders officially stepped down from their leadership roles and were presented with certificates in recognition of their valuable contributions to the school. The ceremony also welcomed and introduced the newly appointed Student Leaders who will continue to uphold the school values and serve the Cedar community with pride and responsibility.

A meaningful highlight of the event was the symbolic passing of the torch segment, which represented the transition of leadership from the outgoing leaders to the incoming team. The ceremony also featured inspiring speeches by the outgoing and incoming Head Prefects, who reflected on their leadership journeys and shared their hopes and aspirations for the year ahead.

The event served as a memorable occasion to celebrate leadership, service, and the continued commitment of student leaders at Cedar Primary School.
Term 1
Chinese New Year
Cedar Primary ushered in the Chinese New Year with a vibrant and meaningful celebration filled with learning and joy. In the classrooms, students discovered the significance of “lo hei” and enthusiastically took part to toss the colourful “ingredients” in class, sharing well-wishes and laughter with their friends.

The festive spirit continued with a lively concert in the school hall. We were treated to an energetic dance performance by our International Dance CCA, a delightful singing performance by children from MK, a cheerful dance item by a group of Primary 2 students, and a spectacular lion dance that brought excitement to all.
As this year’s Total Defence Day coincided with Chinese New Year, the concert thoughtfully incorporated the theme of Total Defence. Throughout the week, students also took part in recess activities to learn more about the six pillars of defence. To provide a more authentic learning experience, students also went through a simulated power disruption in school, helping them better understand the importance of resilience and preparedness.

It was truly a celebration that blended tradition, community and the spirit of Total Defence, reminding us that together, we can build a strong and resilient nation.
Hari Raya 2026
Hari Raya Puasa was celebrated meaningfully, beginning with an impressive Silat performance by three talented Cedarians. Their graceful, dance-like movements, while appearing effortless, embodied deep cultural significance and reflected a tradition recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage.

Students also gained a deeper appreciation of Ramadan, and the customs and traditions of Hari Raya Aidilfitri through an informative and interactive skit. The segment actively engaged the audience, and a few of our Cedarians even had the opportunity to go on stage, be part of the skit, and try on traditional Malay costumes.

The celebration concluded on a high note with a musical finale performed by our Malay teachers and students. Through a lively music video featuring a medley of Raya songs, they showcased their enthusiasm and talent in both singing and dancing. The performance was warmly received by all and wrapped up the event in a truly memorable way.
2025
Term 4
Deepavali
Cedar Primary celebrated the Festival of Lights with a joyful Deepavali concert filled with colour, music, and laughter. Students and teachers came together to share the meaning of Deepavali - the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

The concert featured vibrant dance performances, lively songs, and a short skit that highlighted the importance of kindness and harmony. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn more about Indian culture and to celebrate unity in our diverse school community.


Celebrating Hopes and Dreams (CHAD)

Cedar Primary School held its annual Prize Giving Day, CHAD – Celebrating Hopes and Dreams – with great pride and joy as we honoured the achievements and talents of our students. This special occasion brought the school community together to recognise hard work, perseverance, and the Cedar spirit demonstrated throughout the year.

The celebration also included many captivating musical performances. Our Primary 6 Resilience and Kindness classes showcased their skills through heartfelt Anklung and Gamelan pieces, filling the hall with rich, resonant melodies. The International Dance CCA then took the stage with a vibrant and energetic performance that left the audience delighted. Adding to the artistic showcase, the Music Ensemble CCA presented a charming musical number that highlighted the students’ dedication and passion for the performing arts.

A total of 288 awards were presented to deserving students across academic, leadership, and character domains. Each award reflected the students’ commitment to excellence and the support of teachers and families who have journeyed alongside them. CHAD 2025 was a meaningful celebration of growth, achievement, and aspiration. As our students continue to dream boldly and strive confidently, Cedar Primary School looks forward to nurturing their hopes and shaping even brighter futures.
Term 3
NE Show
The Primary 5 NE Show is an important part of Singapore’s National Education Programme. On 5 July 2025, our Primary 5 students were given the opportunity to observe the National Day Parade (NDP) rehearsal at the Padang. This unique experience aims to deepen their understanding of Singapore's history, culture, and values.

2025 marks Singapore’s 60th year of independence — a milestone to honour our journey, unite in celebration, and build our shared future together. As we mark 60 years of independence, this year’s theme “Majulah Singapura” invites us to reflect on the road we’ve walked as one people, and to look ahead with hope, courage, and unity. It reminds us that our strength lies not only in how far we’ve come, but in the trust, inclusivity, and shared values that continue to guide us forward.

The NE Show isn't just about celebration – it's about preparing our future generation to embrace their role as responsible citizens. We hope that our students will develop a commitment towards Singapore and understand the importance of unity, resilience, and progress in ensuring Singapore’s continued success.

P5 Camp X3
Our Primary 5 students embarked on an exciting three-day adventure at MOE Dairy Farm Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre from 21 to 23 July 2025. The camp, aptly named Camp X3 (eXplore, eXperience, eXemplify), challenged students to step out of their comfort zones and grow in multiple ways.

Throughout their time at the camp, students learned valuable life skills such as resilience in facing challenges, teamwork, and empathy - essential qualities that will serve them well beyond their primary school years. The camp encouraged them to consider different perspectives when making decisions and forming opinions, fostering a more inclusive mindset.

The action-packed schedule included thrilling activities such as rock wall climbing and abseiling, which tested their courage and determination.
Students also participated in team-building exercises and low-element activities that strengthened their collaborative skills. The journey through nature and stream exploration sessions allowed them to appreciate our natural environment, while the intimate mini campfire sessions created memorable bonding moments.
Racial Harmony Day
Cedar Primary School commemorated Racial Harmony Day with a week of engaging and meaningful activities centered around this year’s theme, “Our People, Our Tapestry.”

The celebrations kicked off with a lively music performance featuring traditional instruments from Singapore’s four major ethnic groups. Students enjoyed a vibrant showcase of melodies and rhythms that celebrated the richness of cultural diversity through music.

A library exhibition and a mini quiz on musical instruments further deepened students’ understanding and appreciation of Singapore’s multicultural heritage. They explored the unique instruments associated with each ethnic community. Additionally, students took part in a tapestry art activity, where each contributed creatively by colouring or decorating a square panel representing one of the ethnic groups. These individual panels were then assembled into a collective tapestry artwork, symbolising the unity of Singapore’s diverse communities.

To conclude the celebrations, students enthusiastically joined a fun and interactive Kahoot quiz that tested their knowledge of Racial Harmony Day.
Through these meaningful experiences, Cedar Primary students not only celebrated the nation’s cultural diversity but also reflected on the importance of harmony, respect, and unity in shaping “Our People, Our Tapestry.”

National Day
The spirit of National Day filled Cedar Primary School's halls early this year, kickstarted by a special visit from August the Merlion on 31 July. During the Character and Citizenship Education period, students were treated to an engaging session about Singapore's rich history, followed by August's classroom visits that brought smiles to young faces. The excitement peaked during an interactive quiz session, where eager participants vied for coveted limited-edition plushie keychains!
For two vibrant weeks leading to National Day, the school transformed into a hub of patriotic activities. Students embarked on an exciting Mathematical journey by the Mathematics Department, hunting for SG mascots around the school's ground floor to solve the puzzles relating to the mascots.

At Basketball Court 2, they participated in engaging activities for a chance to win mystery gifts. There was a lively student-led karaoke session in the school library on 4 August, alongside other enriching library activities on National Day week.
The highlight of the National Day-related activities took place on 8 August. The day began with a solemn observance ceremony, then the National Day concert, featuring a magnificent display of Singapore's journey, diversity, and aspirations. Through six carefully crafted acts, the concert wove together mini-skits and performances by an impressive array of talents - from our adorable MOE Kindergarten students to the graceful International Dance CCA members, and from our talented Mother Tongue teachers to our dedicated Parent Support Group. Our own Cedar teachers even showcased their vocal prowess! The grand finale featured The Singapore Workout 2025 - Dance of the Nation, perfectly encapsulating the vibrant spirit of the celebration.
Term 2
International Friendship Day 2025
The theme "Singapore: Forging Friendships in a Complex World" will guide International Friendship Day celebrations from 2025 to 2027. As the global landscape evolves, international cooperation remains vital for Singapore to address global challenges and seize new opportunities.
Cedar Primary School orchestrated a series of engaging activities to enhance students' understanding of ASEAN and other countries. Through thoughtfully planned recess activities across various school locations and age-appropriate Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) lessons on ASEAN, students gained deeper insights into different cultures and perspectives. These enriching experiences prepare them to contribute meaningfully to a cohesive, globally connected society whilst maintaining Singapore's relevance in an increasingly complex world.

The school's canteen vendors enthusiastically supported International Friendship Day by preparing an array of international dishes throughout the week. Information on each dish was placed in front od each stall. Students and teachers alike eagerly anticipated the special-edition menu- Kimchi Fried Rice, Mee Soto, Aglio Olio and Dim Sum.

Hari Raya Celebration
The school commemorated Hari Raya Puasa with an assembly programme on Thursday, 16 April.
The celebration commenced with an impressive Silat performance led by a Primary 4 student, Hadif. While the movements performed by the students appeared simple, they carried deep cultural significance and formed the foundation for more complex sequences.

A highlight of the celebration was a live performance by Sri Mahligai, a distinguished Singaporean Malay folk ensemble established in 2000. The group, renowned for their international performances over two decades, showcased traditional music featuring the accordion. They enriched students' understanding of Ramadan, the fasting month, and Hari Raya Aidilfitri through visual presentations and interactive activities, including demonstrations of proper samping wear for boys. Staff and students participated enthusiastically, clapping along to the music and engaging wholeheartedly in the activities.


The celebration concluded with Malay Language students performing a final Raya song, bringing the event to a memorable close.

Mother Tongue Language Fortnight
The Mother Tongue Language Fortnight provided our pupils with meaningful opportunities to celebrate their language and cultural heritage.

Over the two-week period, pupils engaged in a range of enriching activities that brought the beauty of their Mother Tongue cultures to life.
These included hands-on experiences such as Batik Painting, Ketupat Weaving, Rangoli Designs, Clay Lamp Painting, Opera Mask Painting, and Peranakan Tile Design.



Through these interactive sessions, pupils explored traditional art forms while deepening their appreciation for their linguistic and cultural roots.
It was heartening to witness our pupils participating with enthusiasm and pride as they connected with their heritage in memorable and meaningful ways.
Primary 4 Cultural Camp
Our Primary 4 Cultural Camp provided pupils with a meaningful cross-cultural learning experience, deepening their appreciation for Singapore’s rich multicultural heritage.

Through engaging activities, pupils explored various cultural traditions in an authentic and enjoyable way. They experienced elements of Chinese culture through Wushu, expressed themselves through Indian Dance, and gained insight into Malay culture by learning Silat.

These activities not only enriched their understanding of traditional art forms but also fostered respect and appreciation for the diverse cultures that shape our nation.
Sports Carnival 2025
Cedar Primary School's Sports Carnival on 28 May 2025 brought the school community together for a day of sporting excellence and camaraderie.
The event featured diverse activities across all levels: MOE Kindergarten, Primary One and Two students participated in classroom-based mini-games, Primary Three pupils showcased their skills in relay events, whilst Primary Four to Six students engaged in modified games across the school grounds.


House Masters led their teams with enthusiasm, supported by active Parent Support Group members who managed game stations and joined in the spirited house cheers.


The carnival highlighted remarkable displays of sportsmanship, resilience and school spirit, with students and teachers alike striving for excellence.
Post-event reflections captured the day's impact, with participants expressing excitement and determination for future events. The carnival successfully strengthened the school's collective identity, truly embodying the spirit of "Four Houses, One Cedar!"


Term 1

Cedar Primary celebrated Chinese New Year with a vibrant concert that highlighted the school’s rich diversity and strong sense of unity. Students enjoyed an engaging lineup of performances, including a captivating Indian Classical Dance by Aksha Prakash of Primary 6 Resilience, a dynamic showcase by the International Dance CCA, and a delightful musical number presented by the school leaders. The festivities concluded on an exhilarating note with a spectacular dragon dance, performed by selected Primary 6 students, leaving everyone with fond memories of the celebration.



Total Defence Day
Total Defence Day was commemorated with a meaningful series of activities that deepened students' understanding of the six pillars of Total Defence. Throughout the week, daily sharings highlighted the importance of resilience and unity, beginning with a thought-provoking skit during assembly. To provide a hands-on experience, students participated in a water disruption and rationing exercise, fostering awareness of resource conservation.

Adding to the enriching programme, two local writers, Ms Emily Lim and Ms Tan Ter Cheah, shared their inspiring life stories, encouraging students to embrace courage and determination. Team-building games during recesses brought students together in the spirit of camaraderie, while a special sharing session at the school library on the bravery of Lieutenant Adnan offered a powerful lesson in sacrifice and patriotism. The commemoration left students with a deeper appreciation of Singapore’s collective strength and the role each of them plays in defending our nation.
