2026 READ@CPS and Racial Harmony Day Commemoration
6 October 2026
Cedar Primary School recently marked Racial Harmony Day and READ@CPS under the theme "Singapore: Our People, Our Tapestry." Over two vibrant weeks in July 2026, students engaged in immersive classroom lessons, library trails, recess storytelling, short film screenings, and interactive book sessions. These activities deepened their appreciation of Singapore's multicultural heritage, fostered empathy, and strengthened a shared sense of belonging.
Singapore is like a colourful tapestry made up of many different cultures, traditions, and beliefs, where each community adds something special to our shared identity. Under this year's theme, Singapore: Our People, Our Tapestry, Cedar Primary School celebrated Racial Harmony Day and READ@CPS across two exciting weeks in July 2026.
Students enjoyed a rich variety of activities in and out of the classroom. In their English Language and Mother Tongue classes, students read specially selected storybooks and completed creative activities that explored themes of identity, culture, and belonging. At the library, they explored the "Blind Date with a Book" station and contributed to the "Story Map of Singapore" by marking family origins and treasured cultural experiences. Recess came alive with storytelling sessions by the Storytelling Association, a screening of short films celebrating community, kindness, and racial harmony, and a Book Buzz LIVE! session where School Leaders shared their favourite childhood books. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions and discover new books to borrow.
Through these experiences, students deepened their appreciation of Singapore's multicultural society, cultivated empathy and a sense of belonging, and celebrated what makes Singapore uniquely ours.
