Overview of 2026 Events
Mother Tongue Fortnight
During the Mother Tongue Language Fortnight, our students were given meaningful opportunities to celebrate and appreciate their language and cultural heritage through a variety of engaging activities. Over the two-week programme, students took part in a wide range of engaging hands-on activities, such as Batik Painting, Henna Painting, Indian Motifs, Lantern Painting, Chinese Spinning Top and Peranakan Tile Design.
These engaging experiences provided pupils with the opportunity to explore traditional art forms and cultural practices connected to their cultural roots. The students also gained a deeper appreciation of their Mother Tongue languages and cultural heritage while learning in a fun and meaningful way. It was heartening to see them participate with enthusiasm and pride throughout the two weeks.
Student Leaders’ Investiture
The Student Leaders’ Investiture Ceremony marked an important milestone as the outgoing Primary 6 Student Leaders officially stepped down from their leadership roles and were presented with certificates in recognition of their valuable contributions to the school. The ceremony also welcomed and introduced the newly appointed Student Leaders who will continue to uphold the school values and serve the Cedar community with pride and responsibility.
A meaningful highlight of the event was the symbolic passing of the torch segment, which represented the transition of leadership from the outgoing leaders to the incoming team. The ceremony also featured inspiring speeches by the outgoing and incoming Head Prefects, who reflected on their leadership journeys and shared their hopes and aspirations for the year ahead.
The event served as a memorable occasion to celebrate leadership, service, and the continued commitment of student leaders at Cedar Primary School.
Chinese New Year
Cedar Primary ushered in the Chinese New Year with a vibrant and meaningful celebration filled with learning and joy. In the classrooms, students discovered the significance of “lo hei” and enthusiastically took part to toss the colourful “ingredients” in class, sharing well-wishes and laughter with their friends.
The festive spirit continued with a lively concert in the school hall. We were treated to an energetic dance performance by our International Dance CCA, a delightful singing performance by children from MK, a cheerful dance item by a group of Primary 2 students, and a spectacular lion dance that brought excitement to all.
As this year’s Total Defence Day coincided with Chinese New Year, the concert thoughtfully incorporated the theme of Total Defence. Throughout the week, students also took part in recess activities to learn more about the six pillars of defence. To provide a more authentic learning experience, students also went through a simulated power disruption in school, helping them better understand the importance of resilience and preparedness.
It was truly a celebration that blended tradition, community and the spirit of Total Defence, reminding us that together, we can build a strong and resilient nation.
Hari Raya 2026
Hari Raya Puasa was celebrated meaningfully, beginning with an impressive Silat performance by three talented Cedarians. Their graceful, dance-like movements, while appearing effortless, embodied deep cultural significance and reflected a tradition recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage.
Students also gained a deeper appreciation of Ramadan, and the customs and traditions of Hari Raya Aidilfitri through an informative and interactive skit. The segment actively engaged the audience, and a few of our Cedarians even had the opportunity to go on stage, be part of the skit, and try on traditional Malay costumes.
The celebration concluded on a high note with a musical finale performed by our Malay teachers and students. Through a lively music video featuring a medley of Raya songs, they showcased their enthusiasm and talent in both singing and dancing. The performance was warmly received by all and wrapped up the event in a truly memorable way.
