International Friendship Day 2025
The theme "Singapore: Forging Friendships in a Complex World" will guide
International Friendship Day celebrations from 2025 to 2027. As the global
landscape evolves, international cooperation remains vital for Singapore
to address global challenges and seize new opportunities.
Cedar Primary School orchestrated a series of engaging activities to enhance
students' understanding of ASEAN and other countries. Through thoughtfully
planned recess activities across various school locations and age-appropriate
Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) lessons on ASEAN, students gained
deeper insights into different cultures and perspectives. These enriching
experiences prepare them to contribute meaningfully to a cohesive, globally
connected society whilst maintaining Singapore's relevance in an increasingly
complex world.

The school's canteen vendors enthusiastically supported International Friendship Day by preparing an array of international dishes throughout the week. Information on each dish was placed in front od each stall. Students and teachers alike eagerly anticipated the special-edition menu- Kimchi Fried Rice, Mee Soto, Aglio Olio and Dim Sum.

Hari Raya Celebration
The school commemorated Hari Raya Puasa with an assembly programme on
Thursday, 16 April.
The celebration commenced with an impressive Silat performance led by
a Primary 4 student, Hadif. While the movements performed by the students
appeared simple, they carried deep cultural significance and formed the
foundation for more complex sequences.

A highlight of the celebration was a live performance by Sri Mahligai, a distinguished Singaporean Malay folk ensemble established in 2000. The group, renowned for their international performances over two decades, showcased traditional music featuring the accordion. They enriched students' understanding of Ramadan, the fasting month, and Hari Raya Aidilfitri through visual presentations and interactive activities, including demonstrations of proper samping wear for boys. Staff and students participated enthusiastically, clapping along to the music and engaging wholeheartedly in the activities.

Term 3
NE Show
The Primary 5 NE Show is an important part of Singapore’s National Education
Programme. On 5 July 2025, our Primary 5 students were given the opportunity
to observe the National Day Parade (NDP) rehearsal at the Padang. This
unique experience aims to deepen their understanding of Singapore's history,
culture, and values.

2025 marks Singapore’s 60th year of independence — a milestone to honour our journey, unite in celebration, and build our shared future together. As we mark 60 years of independence, this year’s theme “Majulah Singapura” invites us to reflect on the road we’ve walked as one people, and to look ahead with hope, courage, and unity. It reminds us that our strength lies not only in how far we’ve come, but in the trust, inclusivity, and shared values that continue to guide us forward.

The NE Show isn't just about celebration – it's about preparing our future generation to embrace their role as responsible citizens. We hope that our students will develop a commitment towards Singapore and understand the importance of unity, resilience, and progress in ensuring Singapore’s continued success.

P5 Camp X3
Our Primary 5 students embarked on an exciting three-day adventure
at MOE Dairy Farm Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre from 21 to 23 July
2025. The camp, aptly named Camp X3 (eXplore, eXperience, eXemplify),
challenged students to step out of their comfort zones and grow in multiple
ways.

Throughout their time at the camp, students learned valuable life skills such as resilience in facing challenges, teamwork, and empathy - essential qualities that will serve them well beyond their primary school years. The camp encouraged them to consider different perspectives when making decisions and forming opinions, fostering a more inclusive mindset.

The action-packed schedule included thrilling activities such as rock
wall climbing and abseiling, which tested their courage and determination.
Students also participated in team-building exercises and low-element
activities that strengthened their collaborative skills. The journey through
nature and stream exploration sessions allowed them to appreciate our natural
environment, while the intimate mini campfire sessions created memorable
bonding moments.
Racial Harmony Day
Cedar Primary School commemorated Racial Harmony Day with a week of engaging
and meaningful activities centered around this year’s theme, “Our People, Our Tapestry.”

The celebrations kicked off with a lively music performance featuring traditional instruments from Singapore’s four major ethnic groups. Students enjoyed a vibrant showcase of melodies and rhythms that celebrated the richness of cultural diversity through music.

A library exhibition and a mini quiz on musical instruments further deepened students’ understanding and appreciation of Singapore’s multicultural heritage. They explored the unique instruments associated with each ethnic community. Additionally, students took part in a tapestry art activity, where each contributed creatively by colouring or decorating a square panel representing one of the ethnic groups. These individual panels were then assembled into a collective tapestry artwork, symbolising the unity of Singapore’s diverse communities.

To conclude the celebrations, students enthusiastically joined a fun and
interactive Kahoot quiz that tested their knowledge of Racial
Harmony Day.
Through these meaningful experiences, Cedar Primary students not only
celebrated the nation’s cultural diversity but also reflected on the importance
of harmony, respect, and unity in shaping “Our People, Our Tapestry.”

National Day
The spirit of National Day filled Cedar Primary School's halls early this
year, kickstarted by a special visit from August the Merlion on 31 July.
During the Character and Citizenship Education period, students were treated
to an engaging session about Singapore's rich history, followed by August's
classroom visits that brought smiles to young faces. The excitement peaked
during an interactive quiz session, where eager participants vied for coveted
limited-edition plushie keychains!
For two vibrant weeks leading to National Day, the school transformed
into a hub of patriotic activities. Students embarked on an exciting Mathematical
journey by the Mathematics Department, hunting for SG mascots around the
school's ground floor to solve the puzzles relating to the mascots.

At Basketball Court 2, they participated in engaging activities for a
chance to win mystery gifts. There was a lively student-led karaoke session
in the school library on 4 August, alongside other enriching library activities
on National Day week.
The highlight of the National Day-related activities took place on 8 August.
The day began with a solemn observance ceremony, then the National Day
concert, featuring a magnificent display of Singapore's journey, diversity,
and aspirations. Through six carefully crafted acts, the concert wove together
mini-skits and performances by an impressive array of talents - from our
adorable MOE Kindergarten students to the graceful International Dance
CCA members, and from our talented Mother Tongue teachers to our dedicated
Parent Support Group. Our own Cedar teachers even showcased their vocal
prowess! The grand finale featured The Singapore Workout 2025 - Dance of
the Nation, perfectly encapsulating the vibrant spirit of the celebration.
